How to read these records
The record
Montgomery County's well-known “Food Inspection” open-data file stopped on October 3, 2024, although the portal still calls it daily. Inspections since July 2024 go to a second County file, where each inspection is repeated at every daily load — more than three million rows for about 13,000 inspections — and where an establishment gets a new registration number every year. This site rebuilds one directory from the two public files: each inspection once, in its latest version, and one record per place with its inspections from October 2022 to today.
How records were joined
The County's current file gives an establishment a new registration number each year, and publishes no permanent number. This site first joins by number: until September 24, 2025 the County published each inspection under the establishment ID of its 2022–2024 file as well, which ties 1,839 old IDs to today's numbers. It then gathers into one record the numbers that carry exactly the same name and the same address. Each record lists every County number it gathers. The record number shown (E-, P- or R- followed by a County number) is one of them, kept as a stable reference.
Results
Results are the County's own words: “No Critical Violations Noted”, “Critical Violations Corrected” and “Facility Closed” in the 2022–2024 file; “Pass”, “Fail”, “Closed” and “Incomplete” in the current file. “Out of compliance” lists the items the County marked that way among its sixteen checked items. Rebuilt from two County files; nothing is added from any other source. The County publishes no permanent establishment number, so this site gathers a place's records in two ways: by number, where the County published an inspection under both its old and its new number; and, failing that, when the name and the address are exactly the same. Two different businesses with the same name at the same address would appear as one record; a business that changed its name or its address appears as two. An inspection describes one visit on one day; it is not a rating of the business today. Owner names are never downloaded.
What is not here
Owner names, which this site never downloads; inspectors; map coordinates. A record marked “absent from the current file” means only that: no inspection under that number in the County's current file. It does not say the business closed.
